Here we have an eastbound mixed car BNSF train at the Sandpoint Depot that is headed for the MRL line just north of the depot. This train has barrel and flat side hoppers (a couple are even MRL branded), large and small tanker cars, gondola cars, loaded lumber cars, and several colorful box cars. There are two General Electric Dash 9-44CW locomotives (BNSF 1080 & BNSF 4521) on the head of this train that rolled through Sandpoint, Idaho on 8/7/2010. 2010 SORC Half Mile Shootout in my pure electric race car. The flashes coming from the car down course and odd sounds are the left hand motor zorching. Due to a miss-communication with the manufacturer, the motor had the incorrect brush timing for CW rotation. Cumulative damage to the commutator prior to the race lead to the motors poor performance at launch, the high voltage combined with retarded timing finished it at the race.
